Personalised Plan

After looking at my essay and having my peers mark my essay, I have come to a conclusion that I need to set my self targets and next steps to improve my essay. I need to begin by focusing and looking at my weaknesses in my essay, and by me doing so I would be able to find my strengths and widen my knowledge and get an A. By the critical criticisms that I got back from my peers I have found ways to understand where I am going wrong to make it right. I believe that I received very good both verbal and written feed back from both my peers and my teacher and this has allowed me to come up with personal steps I need to take to reach my ultimate grade which is an A.

Targets

- I will need to begin focusing on my contemporary text, I need to make sure that I make key reference throughout my essay referring back to my contemporary text. This will allow me to discuss element that are oppositions to my historical texts.

- After my peers checking my spelling, punctuations and grammar I have given myself a target to go back and to make sure all my spellings are correct and my punctuation and grammar are all in place. I will also need to check my writing style and make sure each paragraph links together and flows well.

- I have also given my self a target to make sure that I use special vocabulary, which will ensure that I am using wider knowledge and will show that I understand my text very well.

- Another target that I have given myself in regards to improving my essay is to make sure that I have included a lot of key concepts. This would include referring to media language, institutions and by this I need to make sure that when discussing representation I need to make reference to black actors and how some institutions continuously use black actors in certain genres. I also need to make sure that I discuss audience in more depths and how they can relate to the text and how ideologies come in to it, as well as narrative.

- I have given my self a final target which is to now discuss more wider contexts issues as I have touched upon it in my essay. When I do this I need to describe how the changes have occurred but most importantly why and how it has effected our society in this zeitgeist

Next Steps

After setting myself my targets I now I have to discuss what my next steps are into achieving my ultimate grade. My next steps will reflect how I can meet my targets and how I need to improve my work.

- I will need to continue with a more through research and this will now include me not just looking at the Internet but also books, magazines and newspapers about issues surrounding my text.

- I will need to consider issues that I have missed out in my essay such as I need to begin focusing on critical debates and how they can relate to my topic. An example of this is me discussing issues such as media effects and moral panic as these issues interlink with my text. I will also need to think about how the effect of globalisation on the media can be placed in my essay. I also need to discuss issues that relate to the media theories that I need to use.

-Another next step that I need to take is to establish the way I should layout my footnotes. As so far they seem find, but I need to make sure that I follow the guidelines that were set to make sure that I can get high marks for that for example I need to rearrange them in alphabetical order and make sure the spelling, punctuation and capitalization is all right.

- I need to discuss issues regarding colonialism and post-colonialism as that is what the main body of my essay focuses on.

- I also need to focus on my bibliography as it also needs to follow the same guidelines as I need to to do in my footnotes.

-Finally my last step that I need to take in finalise my introduction and conclusion and make sure that they are perfectly organised and make sense as well as attention grabbing as well as finishing off with a very good sentence to summarise all my points.

In conclusion I know now what my targets are and my next steps are and in order for my to get my ultimate grade I need to ensure I follow and meet my targets.
